Kingsley Plantation Jacksonville Florida A Story of Freedom and Slavery

In 1814, Zephaniah Kingsley moved to Fort George Island and established a plantation. He brought with him his wife and three children.(Their fourth child would be born on the plantation). His wife, Anna Madgigine Jai, was from Senegal, Africa, and was purchased by Kingsley as a enslaved person. This plantation is the oldest still standing plantation in Florida.
